Corset A6 Notepad / Diary Tutorial

Good mornings all!

I have a super quick and easy tutorial to share with you all today!
One of my latest things I made for my Visible Image design team posts;
seems to have proven popular amongst the girls & all my girlfriends
& they have all asked for a tutorial!
(ok well they all asked me to make them one,
I said I'd make them the tutorial lol)
It is super easy!

This is what we are going to make!
 You can find the original blogged post with loads of detailed photos {here}

Note Pad / Diary Tutorial
You will need -
Corset stamp –
Girly Background stamp
A6 Notepad (5.8 x 4.1 in)
Cardstock in- Kraft, baby pink & white.
Sepia toned ink
Rose toned ink
Clear Embossing powder
Brown or clear glitter
Embossing folder – Damask (EZ Cut Model 50358 - 106 x 150mm)
Brayer
Embossing Buddy
Heat gun
Tim Holtzs distress inks – Vintage photo & Walnut stain
Embellishments – Lace, flower, feather(s), pearls, rhinestones in baby pink and hot pink
Coloring medium (I used watercolor pencils)

The how to –

Cut cardstock to the following measurements & ink distress all edges–

I have numbered my layers working from the base to the top layers.
Kraft cardstock (base) – Book base cut 1 of 11 in x 6 ¾ inch and score on the long side at 5 1/8 inch and 5 7/8 inch
Brown cardstock (Layer 1) –cut 3 of 4 5/8 in x 6 ¼ in
Pink cardstock (Layer 2) – cut 3 of 4 1/8 in x 5 ¾ in
White cardstock (Layer 3) – cut 3 of 3 7/8 in x 5 ½ in – This layer to be embossed
Brown cardstock (Layer 4 – Image matt) – cut 1 of 3 1/8 in x 4 3/8 in
Pink cardstock (Layer 5 - Image matt) –cut 1 of 2 5/8 in x 3 7/8 in
White cardstock (Layer 6 - Image) – cut 1 of 2 ½ in x 3 ¾ in
Brown cardstock - ½ in x 6 ¼ in for the spine of the book

Emboss layer 3 with a ‘porcelain’ look – To achieve the ‘porcelain’ look - with your brayer or ink pad, ink up the non raised side of your embossing folder. Insert your paper (place a little tape behind it if you’re worried it will move) & run through your embossing machine as per normal. The non raised section you’ inked up’ will transfer the ink onto your paper & give it a ‘porcelain’ look.

Stamp the Corset onto layer 6 – Ink up the Corset stamp in sepia ink, stamp image & then cover with clear embossing powder (you need to work quickly or the ink will dry). Heat set the embossing powder with your heat gun & while powder is still ‘wet’ sprinkle with fine brown glitter & heat again to ‘adhere’ your glitter. With a colouring medium, add some colour to the Corset .

Creating the Girly Background wording behind the Corset - On a scrap piece of paper, stamp the Corset stamp again & cut out (to be used as a mask while stamping the background). Place a little removable adhesive behind the Corset mask you cut out & place over top of Corset image. Take the inked Girly Background & stamp the Corset with a second generation stamp (to second generate stamp - ink up the Girly Background stamp, stamp the Girly background on a scrap of paper & then stamp over your masked Corset image.) This is a great cheat to use when you don’t have inks in every color or shade & your Girly Background will blend better with the porcelain look embossing you have previously made above.

Assemble the layers –
Place adhesive behind all the layers, centre, assemble & adhere each layer on top of each other.
Noting that only the front cover will include Layer 4, 5, & 6.
Behind layer 1 – add your lace trim to 2 of the assembled pieces (one for the front and one for the back cover).
Affix both the laced layer 1’s to the base cardstock (again 1 for the front & 1 for the back)
Inside the cover, adhere the other layer 1 on the left hand side.
On the right hand side, adhere the notepad.
Add the spine of the book & your desired embellishments – I’ve added a feather, handmade flower, glittered button & some pearls & hot glued them on.

For a really nice finishing touch – Take the Corset stamp again, and stamp the Corset in the corner of each page of the notepad.

And don't forget about the
guys in our lives either !!!
For a more masculine look try changing the pink to a more masculine color
& use the Men's Collage stamp
(also available from Visible Image {here})

This is exactly the same as the Corset one, just with
pistachio green, black bling & the Men's Collage stamp
& no lace, feathers & glittered buttons lol
Hubby says it reminds him of a vintage cigar box!
Guys can be so hard to buy for and this would make a great little gift!
